But all N-body Grand Ams are hateful piles of garbage. If I could pick any one car to rid the Earth of, they’d all be gone.
Worst for last:
It may be the only car I legitimately hate. Just disgusting.

Don’t worry, they are either in the junkyard or will be very soon. I can’t remember the last time I saw one.

One of my roommates in college had a 2001 Grand Am GT. That thing had so many problems, but it was unkillable. I remember he came to Roswell to have lunch with me one day, he got to the restaurant we were meeting at and he put the car in park. Then by itself it just started to rev. He turned it off got out of the car and was like, it does that.

But then LoganSteno’s brother would have to walk everywhere.

Pontiacs were pretty consistent for being better looking than their GM platform-mates. I honestly can’t think of any exceptions to this.

I can only speak for the gen 5, but it really isn’t that bad of a car. I expected it to be far worse than it is in every aspect and was honestly surprised. I actually like driving my brother’s more than my S10.

This needs a million stars.

See, I think the last one is the best of them ... not that it’s saying much.
The top one is a dead ringer to the one I helped my friend and his wife pick out. She was driving his Dakota while he was deployed in Iraq, and despite the fact that the Dakota had lived a pampered life of less that 5 years and 50k miles, was falling the hell apart. When he was back for his 2-weeks R&R they traded the turd in on the Grand Am. I inspected it for crash damage. Which the first one they tried to buy had plenty of evidence of. As ugly as it was, and as bad as the interior was, it served them well for several years and tons of miles. Gadamn was that thing ugly though.

Olds was better by a landslide on the N-platform.

Modern “Ram Air” Pontiacs must be exterminated

Some Bonneville to cleanse the palate:
These are such handsome cars. Fully optioned out they’re nice as hell to be in, but even the 43k mile example I rode in had a few annoying rattles.
It’s rare enough to see these around in decent condition, even rarer to see them without horridly fogged up headlights or messed up tail lights
This right here is so much goals. Dark green SSEi with gold laces. FWIW this is the color my Riviera was supposed to be. This is what the damn can of paint looked like.
Embrace the plastic and the world’s best 90s wheels.
One of the best ass-ends any car in the early 2000s ever had. And that little lip spoiler is perfect.
![]() 02/02/2017 at 23:00 |

I never really cared much for the Alero’s styling, but I forgot about those FWD Cutlasses! Come to think of it, the early ’90s Skylarks were pretty slick-looking too:

Here is a better Pontiac.
![]() 02/02/2017 at 23:01 |

The Wave/G3 was worse. What pathetic shitboxes these cars were. Every car on the platform was bad, but the Wave is the worst because it tarnishes the good (or at least to me) name of subcompact Pontiacs.
The Firefly Turbo doesn’t deserve to be associated with this damnit.

S10's can be made interesting, Grand Ams should all be crushed yesterday.

Mmmmm... you know how I love those last Bonnies.
However, this is a Buick/Olds with some cheap plastic cladding:
Worst Bonnie.
![]() 02/02/2017 at 23:10 |
|
If the Grand Am doesn’t have the plastic cladding and has the one motor not from the 1980s under the hood, both features my brother’s has, it really isn’t bad. Cavaliers and Sunfires are far worse vehicles.
V8 swapping an S10 (which is all you can really do to them) doesn’t make it interesting. You just end up with an overpowered ox car with junky wheel bearings, recirculating ball steering, and a front suspension pulled off an 80s B-body wagon.
![]() 02/02/2017 at 23:10 |

It’s still a better car than those Grand Ams. Still not a good car, but not hateful.

![]() 02/02/2017 at 23:17 |

No, the Grand Am is peak GM just not giving a fuck. They couldn’t be bothered to style it, or engineer it, or even put them together with any sort of intent for them to stay together for more than 5 minutes. The Grand Am was the beginning of the death of Pontiac which ended with the G6. It’s a bad car in every way.

My first car was an 01 GT. I rolled it doing about 80. None of the windows (including the sunroof) had a crack in them.

The Grand Am at least got it’s own interior design and different fascias, much like your car compared to a Camaro. Those one I just listed are literally nothing more than a Pontiac grille on a different GM car. Hell, GM couldnt even be bothered to engineer the vibe themselves!
GM at least give a sliver of a fuck in the 90s even with the cheap shitboxes, the mid 2000s were peak not give a fuck across the board.

The Olds was the one to have. They came with the 190hp W41 Quad-4 and won the touring car championship of the SCCA World Challenge from 1992-1994

So do you wanna come take the godawful thing off my hands then? Because even after all that it’s still a too small, rough riding, poorly engineered truck that will always be overshadowed by the infinitely better full-size models.

I swear to god those last gen Grand Ams were the most common car in my hometown when I was in highscool (2005-8). I remember one day I walked about 5 blocks and saw 9 of them 2 were GTs. I hate the GTs the most. I think these replaced them...I guess it’s an improvement. At least it doesn’t have fat rolls.

No, it’s not. It’s literally the worst car sold in America in the past 20 years. I’ve been in the two cars in comparison, and the Grand Am feels luxurious and built like a tank in comparison.

back when they were new I kinda liked the styling, but I rented one and couldn’t wait to return it, that seat was worse than anything ever, the back was no support for lumbar, but the top and side bolsters pushed my shoulders forward, made me have new respect for my Escort
